AO3 Kudos Hits Ratio - A New Non-Searchable Metric
This is a tool for AO3 that adds a new non-searchable metric to the works, describing their Kudos/Hits ratio. It’s not a perfect metric, and will not be perfect forever, but it is a metric that reflects the general popularity of a work in a way that a lot of other metrics are not. A work with 12 kudos and 96 hits will have a TrueRank of 1.5, which is lower than many works and much higher than the kudos-only metrics. Searching by TrueRank will return the most popular works, as well as the most popular works that have a higher TrueRank. This will let you know whether or not a work is of a higher quality than you think, and it’s a metric that can be sorted by, which makes it useful for sorting works. The issue with the TrueRank is that, unlike the metrics we have now, it cannot be sorted by the number of works by a single user, so it’s useful for sorting only works with TrueRank, which is the average Kudos/Hits ratio.
